I have recently retired from teaching. I loved my career as a high school Special Education teacher for 36 years, serving a multicategorical population of students. I loved the challenge and the changes that this career provided me, and I really miss it!
I can teach best when my heart and my brain work together. I was a laid back teacher who developed close relationships with many students. I worked primarily co-teaching in regular education classes, supporting the needs of the special and regular education students, and developing trusting and caring partnerships with my co-teachers. I have worked in many subject areas: English, Physics & Biology, World History, Algebra, and many other areas.
Besides the appreciation and support of my teachers, students, and parents, I was awarded the first ever Teacher of the Year award for St. Francis High School.
I graduated from the University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire (magna cum laude) with a Bachelor's degree in Special and Regular Education. I earned my Master's degree from the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee in special education of emotional behavioral disabilities.
I have been the leader in my special education department in the areas of computers and technology, especially in the use of individual devices for students and Powerpoint and Smartboard utilization.
