As an English professor, my primary objective centers around the instruction of English 1301 and 1302 courses, with a particular emphasis on research and analysis. Over the course of my career, I have been privileged to hold a range of positions within the field of education, such as principal intern, testing coordinator, interventionist, and classroom teacher. These multifaceted roles have granted me an expansive comprehension of the education system, as well as a deep appreciation for the unique needs and challenges encountered by both students and educators.
My personal theory for teaching and leading contemporary education is based on a desire to improve lives both individually and collectively. I want to show students and staff they are capable of all things. I believe in exposing students and staff to new ideas, new places, and ways of doing things so that they might understand the limitlessness of their options. I am intent on raising the bar and conveying the message that anything is possible. More specifically, my personal theory is to show students and staff that they are unique and have a distinctiveness to contribute positively and broadly to society.
I empowers educators with mindful strategies to enhance their wellness and their students' wellness. I have practiced meditation for the past 25 years and added yoga to my practice 5 years ago and instantly knew I wanted to incorporate meditation, guided relaxation, and yoga into my classroom for its stress-relieving benefits and as part of the Social Emotional Learning curriculum. This was the beginning of my new passion as I began to see distinctive changes within my students, myself, and my class culture as a whole.
