I am currently in my 19th year (how did that happen?) of teaching pre-tweens in grades 4 and 5. I am an over-achieving generalist, teaching all aspects of ELA, math, science and social studies each and every day.
I like to let the students guide my teaching. I rely on their learning styles and adapt my teaching style as needed. I prefer to teach in the workshop model for ELA and math whenever possible. I also enjoy hands-on and inquiry based learning. All in all, I like to make it memorable.
I get at least one 'favorite teacher' award every Christmas. Does that count?
I am a proud alumna of the classrooms of the district in which I currently teach. I have a BA in elementary education, a BS in general psychology, and an MS in education technology.
I am a proud momma to two crazy kiddos, 14 and 8. I like to read, love yoga, and would spend eternity on the beach if I could.
