TEACHING EXPERIENCE

This is my 25th year teaching. I am a GT Specialist teaching 6th - 8th grade in San Antonio Texas. I have also taught 3rd, 4th, 5th, 5th and 7th grades. I spent 15 years teaching middle school history and social studies classes and have a passion for the subject.

MY TEACHING STYLE

Teaching is a craft that ,for me, is enhanced with better questioning techniques (leading versus guiding versus essential questions). In addition, the ability to create authentic discussions and projects that highlight the knowledge, interest and creativity of my students. My store is about the little fill-ins I've come to rely on... the crossword puzzles, the simple, on-line activities and the review of content and vocabulary with engaging tasks. These are things that both new and experienced teachers need for their students.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

1st Year Teacher of the Year and Teacher of the Year. (1999, 2002, 2017)

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I grew up moving around in an Air Force family. I attended public schools around the country as well as an overseas DOD school. I have a Journalism/Telecommunications BA and an Elementary Education degree from the University of Wyoming. I also earned an MS in Integrating Technology in the Classroom from Walden University.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

I love to play the guitar and often play in the classroom. I rap the Gettysburg Address among other things. My wife is a teacher and we have three wonderful kids. And a pretty awesome dog.
