TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have been teaching everything from Spanish 1 through AP Spanish Lit since the fall of 2000.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I believe that the keys a successful WL classroom are a comfortable atmosphere, interesting activities, and realistic expectations. I teach grammar, but it is not the most important thing in my classroom. Using correct grammar at the intermediate or even the advanced levels are an ideal that we strive for. I emphasize comprehension and teaching culture.

I have a Bachelor's degree in Spanish, A Master's In The Art Of Teaching (MAT) in Spanish and an second masters in teaching ELL.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

My wife, daughter, and I are all bilingual Spanish speakers. None of us are heritage speakers, but we all believe in the power of being bilingual. If more of us were bilingual, I believe we would live in a more compassionate and understanding place.
