Preschool Everyday

I have had almost 10 years of experience in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education and Child Care. I have worked as a paraprofessional, Assistant and Lead Teacher in Head Start, a Lead Preschool teacher in a College Early Childhood Learning Lab School and am currently the assistant program director of the program.

My teaching style tends to be somewhat emergent but very traditional in the same sense. I also try to think about the whole child when planning activities, and think about the students that I am planning for. I tend to stick to hands-on activities creating pieces that are theme related to use that some sort of manipulative is added to it to complete the activity. We work a lot with manipulatives, white boards, and active and engaging activities. I also believe in the power of play and so I try to think of things that can be incorporated into the everyday routines and free-choice or center times that will help to enhance their knowledge and skills.

Spending time with friends and family and volunteering in my community and church are what I like to do when I'm not working or going to class.
