TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have been teaching since 2012. I never planned on teaching. I got my degree in Mathematics in May of 2012, got married in July of 2012, and became a high school Math Teacher in August of 2012. (That was one crazy summer!) I was told by a relative that I should put in an application at the high school where she taught and within a few weeks, I had an interview. Luckily for me, that interview went well and I landed the job. After an absolutely horrid first year I did a little bit of reflecting. Although nothing that year went as I had planned and my students were challenging, to say the least, I realized that I loved my students and I loved having the chance to influence their lives for the better. So I stuck around, and each year since just keeps getting better!

MY TEACHING STYLE

I am a laid-back person, probably the definition of a type B personality. I'm not easily stressed or vexed; I like to have fun with my kids, which isn't always easy to do in a secondary math classroom. To combat the boredom of Polynomial Long Division and the Quadratic Formula I try to use a few interesting activities.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I graduated high school from a small Arkansas school in 2008. I earned a Bachelor's in Mathematics from Arkansas Tech University (Go Wonder Boys) in 2012. Seriously, the ATU mascot is the "Wonder Boys" and the female teams are referred to as the "Golden Suns".

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

My husband and I were married in July of 2012 after being college sweethearts. We had a beautiful baby girl in April of 2014 and welcomed our second little girl in December of 2016. We have been blessed beyond measure.
