I have been working as a certified teacher for over a decade. I have experience teaching in the mainstream classroom, special education, and the art classroom. I have experience as a grant writer, started a STEAM program at my school, and wrote my own art curriculum. I collaborated on a cultural awareness program at my school and, in addition to teaching, I am also an artist/illustrator so I get to practice what I teach!
My teaching style is a true reflection of my love of academics and learning, and my passion for cultures and the arts. I love developing lessons that encourage students to make, express, and build community, while also questioning, exploring, and gaining knowledge. I believe a strong education requires academics and the arts to work together. An academic approach teaches students how to discover and innovate solutions, and an artistic approach teaches them how to imagine and create solutions.
