TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I was part of four teachers who developed and delivered ESL curriculum for the International Education Department of my school board in Ontario. We developed a curriculum document that was used in the summers of 2018 and 2019 to teach ESL to students in Taiwan. I was on the writing committee as well as teaching the content and representing my school board teaching in Taiwan. I have taught ESL in Italy, France, Australia and Taiwan for over 10 years. I have my Specialization in French from the University of Western Ontario. I have taught French as a Second Language and French Immersion for the past 10 years. I was on the panel of presenters for the 2019 Ontario Modern Languages Conference in Toronto and delivered a presentation on Math Centres in French Immersion to a large group of French teacher colleagues.

MY TEACHING STYLE

For me the relationships we have with our students is the most important thing we can do with teaching. It has been proven that students only learn from people that they have a significant relationship with. To develop that relationship it is key to get them interested and engaged, which is why I'm always revamping my lessons and changing things to suit new interests, new learning styles and trends and the most currently methodologies. My students often tell me that we haven't learned anything, because I don't use traditional learning of sitting at a desk and writing with pen an paper but they can speak the target language. Learning can and should be fun!
