I have been an early childhood educator for over 12 years. I have spent most of my time teaching Universal Pre-k here in New York and absolutely love this age group. At 3,4, and 5 children are naturally curious, fun, and ready to dive deep into fun hands-on explorations. In my classroom, students learn through meaningful and purposeful play. My job is to provide students with provocations that stimulate their minds, encourage them to question the world around them, and are multi-disciplinary. Within our play, early literacy and numeracy skills, as well as social emotional support and guidance are at the center of everything we do.
As an early childhood educator, my style of teaching has always come from a place that the teacher should act as a facilitator in children's own learning. Having worked in many different settings, I identify strongly with the philosophies of Reggio Emilia in that play and hands-on experiences help to guide and shape children's experiences and therefore the discoveries they make about the world around them.
