I have been an elementary teacher for the last 16 years. I have taught Spanish S and SL, self contained ESOL levels 1 and 2 for grades 2 and 3, and for the last 4 years I have had a regular 2nd grade class with ESOL students levels 3 and up.
My Style? I don't know I guess it changes every year based on my group and its needs. I don't believe on one set style of teaching. What I do is: Teach, Reteach, Review, Reflect, Reteach! I believe students should be aware of what they know and what they need to know in order to take ownership of their education. I teach to reach my students and their parents.
I have received the "Cervantes Award" from the Spanish Council two times.
My highest degree now is a Master of Science in Science Education. My BS is on Foreign Languages. I also have the ESOL and K-6 certification.
I came to this country at age 12, I was an ESOL student. This is why I care so much about ELL students. I graduated from a Miami Dade Public School, got my AA degree from MDC, by BS from FIU, and my MS from FSU.
