Matthew has taught: Higher Education General Biology (majors and non-majors), General Biology II (majors), Ecology, Ichthyology, Comparative Vertebrate Biology, and Herpetology. Grade School Vertebrate Zoology and Snakes Alive! Denise has taught: Higher Education majors Biology, Biodiversity, Ecology, and Best Practices in Teaching. High School Biology of Human Affairs, standard Biology, AP Prep Biology, and AP Biology. Grade School Ecology and General Biology.
Matthew and Denise both find it beneficial to use an assortment of teaching styles including instructor-led lectures, student-led discussions, laboratory experiences, and literature-oriented learning. They enjoy student centered approaches such as problem based learning and flipped-classrooms.
