TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have taught as a full-time teacher in both Minnesota and Arizona. My subjects include AP U.S. History, Civics, and Economics at the high school level, and I have taught in several different special education settings.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I believe all students are unique learners who have the potential to be motivated to learn. As teachers, our main job is to discover who our students are as individuals and inspire them to learn in a way that is meaningful to them.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

B.A. in Social Studies Teaching from Gustavus Adolphus College. M.S. in Teaching and Learning from Minnesota State University.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

Much of my educational studies have focused on three overarching philosophies to guide lesson construction. Understanding by Design is an excellent template for planning lessons, differentiated instruction explains how to create diverse instructional activities, and assessment for learning provides a framework for creating materials that responsibly measure student growth.
