Hey, there! I'm Tori. This is my fourth year as a full time teacher, but I have had the privilege of being in education for almost a decade now. I had my start working at an after school program during college, where I soon found out that I loved being in the classroom. My first teaching job was as a third grade teacher at a private school in California. I had the joy and privilege of learning and teaching alongside some of the best kiddos you'll ever meet. When I finished my Master's Program, I completed student teaching at an inner city Title 1 School - oh, and it was High School! I had about 200 students and taught English. This position is still my fondest memory of the classroom. I now teach 11th-12th grade English and AP Psychology at a charter school! I am thankful to have such a broad background in literacy education, and have found joy in teaching all grades across the board.
I am an English teacher who is passionate about getting her students involved in the world of reading and writing. Engaging materials that allow students to explore and increase their learning, all while having ownership over their work. I prefer student centered classrooms that encourage exploration, inquiries, and curiosity. I work hard to prepare collaborative activities and investigative lessons, and limit the time I spend "talking at" my students. If you spent time in my classes, you would see choice boards, collaborative activities, projects, and more as I try to provide as much support to my students as possible.

Nice to meet you! I'm Tori. I love traveling, rock climbing, playing cello, and spending time with my sweet husband and cat! I did that thing in my early 20s where I moved to Europe with a backpack and a couple hundred bucks, and traveled around for a year. It was rad! I love learning and am perpetually in school - working on my second Master's right now. I guess that's why I teach as well. My favorite place in the world is my church! I am as involved as possible. :) I am passionate about ALL students receiving a great education. Literacy is my forte, and I love creating resources to use in the classroom. Please reach out to me if you would like resources on any given topic, or even a novel study! My email is: torihancock23@gmail.com
