I have taught Music Education for the past 9 years, many of those in the private school setting. In addition to teaching Junior K - 6th grade classroom music, I have directed over a dozen Christmas and Spring musical productions incorporating choral singing, choreography, costuming, drama, and technical requirements. I have developed hand bell programs, directed children's choirs, and led chapel worship for elementary students. I am a keyboardist for worship services at my church and am on staff as the accompanist for local junior high and high school choirs.
My teaching style is encouraging, energetic, and engaging. My lesson plans are packed full of fun activities from the beginning of class with "walk-in" music to the very end with a "take-away". Although I have taught in school settings with small music budgets and limited resources, I have worked tirelessly to create student lesson plans that are fun and engaging. I have designed resources to be used for "fun" days in music, as part of your yearly planning, or for substitute teachers coming into your class. Whether you have the most updated technology in your classroom with interactive Smartboards or simply have a laptop, projector, and an old-fashioned pull-down screen, you will be able to use my resources. Many of my lesson plans incorporate the following elements: "walk-in" music, "call and response" suggestions, rhythm and body percussion exercises complete with original Mp3 accompaniment tracks, visually interesting power points with video links and suggestions for question/answer time and a "take-away" at the end of the lesson. It is all here for you - ready to download and use!

My passions lie in guiding new teachers on their musical journey. I want them to become quality music educators. This is not something that can be learned sitting in a college classroom listing to a professor instruct on teaching methods. It must be practiced, implemented, and honed in the classroom. I want to help make this transition easier for new teachers with the experience I have acquired and the resources I am making available.
