I have been teaching since 2000. I began my career at an inner city school with a high minority count in a poverty stricken area. I moved in 2002 to a larger school district in a suburban school area. I have also been a curriculum facilitator and an English department chair where I have worked with the Common Core and Michigan State Standards. I have taught IB Language and Literature Standard Level, IB Psychology Standard Level, Psych II, English 9, English 10, English 11, English 12, World Literature, Honors World Literature, British Literature, Contemporary Fiction, Contemporary Nonfiction, Women's Literature, African American Literature, Honors African American Literature, AP Language and Composition, Honors English 10, Title I, Young Adult Literature, and team taught ELA classes.
Group discussions, cooperative learning, and teacher as facilitator are some of the most important aspects of my classroom. I like activities, essays, and reading that the students can relate to and enjoy.
