TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I am currently in my 10th year teaching high school English. So far I've taught freshmen all the way through seniors, core courses, electives, advanced courses and remedial courses. Currently I teach American Literature, AP Literature, and Latin American Literature.

MY TEACHING STYLE

While I think teaching can be just as great with chalk and a blackboard, I like to incorporate technology into my classroom wherever it seems appropriate. SMARTBoard presentations, Prezis, YouTube videos, texting applications, if I can find an educational use for it, I'm there. Beyond that, I'm interested in creating the thinkers of tomorrow, not just the readers and the writers. I lean heavily towards teaching the skills of argumentation and support as well as the ability to entertain an idea honestly without necessarily accepting it.
