I have been an elementary teacher for 6 years. Before becoming a classroom teacher, I was a long-term sub for a behavior interventionist, and learned a lot about behavior strategies and management styles. I have worked with elementary and middle school teams to create behavior plans and expectations for students. As a classroom teacher, I have worked in a demanding private school, with parents that expected a lot of enrichment for their children, so I have worked on gathering and creating a lot of enrichment products. Overall, I know that an organized classroom makes for an organized mind, and a calmer environment. We can never be too prepared, or proactive, so I make my products with my preparation needs in mind!
I believe in the best in everyone, so my teaching style matches this. I work with Positive Behavior Interventions and Responsive classroom styles. I strongly believe in consistent, honest, and empathetic communication with families. I do not have children of my own yet, so I treat my students like my children, and do everything I can to help them succeed, and feel proud!
Yet to be added
As a student, I was friends with all of the smartest, dedicated students. This often made my Type B self feel inadequate. I was often too embarrassed to ask questions in front of the class, and did not have good study strategies. Luckily, I was naturally quick at picking things up, so I have always been a good test taker. Over time, I got over my fear of in class questions, and observed the study strategies that worked for my friends to apply them to myself. I became much more organized and quickly became the student that other's went to with questions.
I have a love for the arts. I have involved in the band, chorus, and theater growing up and love to go to concerts, shows, and help in school theater when I get the chance!
