I've worked in education for 15 years. I'm currently a Gifted and Talented Resource teacher, working with all grades. As a classroom teacher, I've taught Kindergarten, 1st, 3rd, and 4th grades over the course of my career. I also taught two compacted math classes: 4/5 (4th grade) and 5/6 (5th grade).
I believe in making learning FUN! I believe that it is sometimes ok to veer away from the lesson plan. I believe every student can succeed. I believe in differentiated instruction. I believe in giving as many opportunities for creativity as possible. I believe that in order to be a great teacher, you must never stop learning!
It is an honor to be an educator!
I began my post-college journey with a degree in business and marketing from James Madison University, which I applied in the hospitality industry for a few years. I then listened to the little voice, which grew louder over the years, to my true calling, education. I completed a post-graduate education program at the University of Richmond and began my career as an elementary educator. A few years later, I added a Gifted Education endorsement from the University of Virginia.
If you are wondering where "Ms. Broccoli" came from, it was inspired by and dedicated to my students past and present. My last name is Brockel- and every class (no matter what age) I've had at least one student raise their hand as ask,"Can we call you MISS BROCCOLI?" I resisted for years, but then decided, like many situations in life, you just have to laugh and go with it. I decided to embrace my inner broccoli for Halloween and as inspiration for my TpT store :) Thank you for reading and thanks for stopping by!
