TEACHING EXPERIENCE

This is my 10th year of teaching- 4 years in Physical Science (1 of those in 8th grade) and 6 years in Biology. I also teach I.B. Biology and Environmental Science.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I use just about every teaching strategy that I know about at some point throughout the year. I love using cooperative learning groups throughout the stages of instruction to encourage interdependence and higher-level thinking through problem-based instruction. I like the overall atmosphere to be student-centered; however, I also want to prepare them for upper level high school and college classes where they may have only lecture-style classes.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

-Honorable Mention in the Disney Planet Challenge 2012 -Presenter at district-wide conferences on science instruction and co-teaching -Mentor Teacher for residents through Memphis Teacher Residency

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

-Graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Biology in 2010. -Graduated with a Masters of Arts in Education in 2012.

I love and serve Jesus Christ, I have a wonderful husband (who is also an educator!), and we have four children, three puppies and a cat!
