TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have been teaching since 1996. I have taught grades K through 5 as both a regular education and a gifted education teacher, in both public and private schools, in three different states. I now teach in an elementary pull-out gifted classroom in a public school in Tennessee.

MY TEACHING STYLE

My role as a gifted teacher is a learning facilitator. I provide my students with opportunities to research topics of interest, to use reasoning skills to tackle brainteasers, and to use creative thinking to solve problems. I then step back and allow them to report, solve, and innovate without interference.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

I achieved National Board Certification in Early Childhood Literacy in 2013.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I have a BA in Elementary Education, a MEd in Gifted Education, and an EdS in Gifted Education Leadership.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

I am married and have three wonderful boys, one dog, one bunny, and one guinea pig.
