TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have a decade of experience from 5th-12th grades teaching early human development/prehistory, Mesopotamia, ancient Egypt, ancient India, ancient China, Medieval Europe, MesoAmerica, world cultures/current events, Civics, Political Science, Law, Sociology, Geography, News Writing, Creative Writing and Reading Strategies

MY TEACHING STYLE

Much like you, my style is varied because so are the students I teach. I do my best to take various approaches to inspire students to seek out knowledge in my subject area. Some of the many activities I share are: simulations, debates, skits, author background checks, incorporating music, connecting history to current events, taking meaningful notes, building argumentation skills, interactive class openers, constructive closure activities, mock trial, Model UN and many more.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

My biggest reward is looking back through yearbooks, pictures, emails and other correspondence from students about a difference I have made in their lives. I don't get those types of items from everyone, but those who have taken time to reach out help inspire me to continue teaching. It is what I believe I was put on earth to do, and I hope to bring creative and meaningful lessons to others as well.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I have a Bachelor's Degree in History and am currently pursuing a Master's in History. I student taught American History, Civics and a Gifted and Talented class. Since then I have taught World History, US History, World Cultures/Current Events, Creative Writing, News Writing, Law and Historical Espionage.
