I have a unique story of how I became a teacher, but maybe it's not so rare these days. I majored in theology in college and worked at my family's accounting business for a while. Then I followed my dream and switched to teaching, something I always wanted to do.
I teach national curriculum topics with hooks and skills. I pick the topics and follow school policies. I plan, teach, worry, or do all three. Teaching is hard but rewarding. You enrich children's lives, see their 'a-ha!' moments, and have career and travel opportunities. My advice: be organized, set high standards, and reflect on your practice.
