I have over 20 years of experience teaching high school English in both AP and IB schools. I spent 10 years in the Texas public school system and have subsequently taught in some of the most prestigious schools in the world, including in Istanbul, Turkey, and Seoul, Korea. I have tutored for the SAT, ACT, TOEFL, and IELTS exams. I have a decade of experience assisting students on their college application essays, helping students gain placement to all the Ivy League schools, Oxford, and Cambridge. I have also coached track and cross country.
Variety. Students learn best with a variety of approaches, but with some consistency. At the beginning of every unit, we learn the objectives, enduring understanding, knowledge & skills, as well as all assessments that will be covered. During the unit, we partake in a variety of Socratic methods, such as the Harkness table and inner/outer circle discussions. Students learn best by demonstration, so both individually and in groups, students create presentations, podcasts, videos, and other visual representations.

I love to travel and write. Teaching Turkey and Korea has allowed me to travel the world extensively. I have written three books, two novels and one literary study.
