As a music educator, I inspire to conduct myself as a facilitator of student music exploration, in which students are guided to both deepen their individual interests and expand their musical perspectives. The curriculum with which students partake should foster initiative to engage in musical activity outside of school and within the community at-large. By establishing a culturally responsive music environment, students are better able to foster feelings of autonomy and engagement, thus eliciting heightened participation both within and outside of the classroom. In addition to establishing a culturally responsive classroom, I believe that the praxial methodology of music instruction provides more opportunities of music engagement (that is, any active means of music making and engagement). The participatory and social tenants of the praxial philosophy best accommodate my students' interests by presenting a variety of means by which students can explore and engage with their individual musical cultures.

I completed both my undergraduate and graduate studies at the Boston University College of Fine Arts. I graduated magna cum laude with my bachelor's degree in music education in 2015, and subsequently earned my master's in music education in 2019.
My primary instrument is piano, which I continued to study throughout my undergraduate program. Any French classical music is my jam! Ravel, Debussy, Poulenc...one of my favorite pieces that I had the opportunity to learn during my undergrad was Ravel's "Jeux d'eau." I always look forward to the summers when I actually have time to practice! Follow me on Instagram @mres_music_room
