I am a newer teacher (beginning my third year in the classroom, one being a TTOC, and four years teaching music to prekindergarten), but have gained a lot of experience in a short amount of time. Teaching three grade levels definitely keeps you on your toes! It has challenged me to be more creative in making cross curricular collaborative projects for my students.
I am a Montessorian and have adopted this philosophy as my teaching practice. I try to create a positive, engaging, and enriching environment for my students in creating a strong supportive class culture and instilling a thirst for knowledge and exploration. I do a great deal of projects where students are able to show their inquiry skills, investigate what they are passionate about, and choose how they want to represent their learning (within a given framework). It is my goal to have students walk in each morning with a smile, looking to our board to see what's it in-store for them that day.
Besides the coveted "Best Teacher Ever!" award from students, being placed in a position of leadership and collaboration with my school and Montessori community is an honour!

Aligning the Montessori curriculum with that of the British Columbia curriculum (or any provincial/state curriculum) for three grade levels can be a challenge- that is why I am sharing some of my ideas here, in the hopes that it is helpful to someone who is teaching Montessori in a public system. :)
