HIV/AIDS empowerment – I can handle all grades, but I work best with teens. I have worked with various organizations in Kenya and Uganda. Sex and Peer pressure – Has experience teaching this subject but I can work best with teens and students in high Schools. I have previously taught this subject in several schools in Kenya,Uganda and Congo. Lifeskills and mentorship – For more than five years now, I have taught life-skills in several schools across Kenya and in Uganda. Global Citizenship education – I have gained meaningful experience in this subject area and have taught in many schools. I am currently working at Grace Heal High school where I teach global citizenship. I founded Global Steps to help inspire and empower the next generation of active Global Citizens. Bible and discipleship – I have worked in several churches as a Sunday school trainer. I am currently the children’s minister at Active Community Chapel based in Kitale Kenya.I love children so much and love engaging them in music, singing and dancing. Young people have many needs and require constant guidance. I Believe children and young people are more likely to flourish if they experience pleasure and engagement during their learning process. As a teacher and mentor, i love to engage my students and involve them in fun activities. I am more passionate in developing the skills and abilities of young people. Through constant interaction I am able to identify the talents and skills of my learners and mentor and guide them through their different phases of life. I have taught life-skills in several organizations and believe young people in schools need ‘emotional intelligence’ to succeed in life. During their transition to adulthood young people face very many challenges and issues and require mentors and positive friends to guide them. My role as a teacher has always been to identify the weakness of a learner and guide them through. My mission is to build them up and instill the value of courage in them. My book of reference during the all mentorship and guiding process is always the bible. There are very many inspiring stories from the bible. Learners need to hear these stories more often and be encouraged to learn from them. The stories of young men from the bible like Joseph, David, and Joshua can inspire children in class and instill certain virtues and life-skills in them.

MY TEACHING STYLE

Personal model I believe teachers are role models in the society. As role models, we have been called to lead by example. The idea is that the students will learn by watching what the teacher does and exactly as the teacher does it. Our roles as teachers are to show the student how to find information and how to understand it. Teachers should always practice what they teaching by being example in word and deed. Always remember, students are there to learn from us. Practice this model of teaching especially if you are a lifeskills trainer. Student Centered approach The idea is that the teacher will advise and guide the students through a learning path. Assessment involves informal and formal methods- tests, group projects, portfolios, and class participation. The teacher should continue to assess the student learning even throughout the lesson. The students are learning the information the teacher is giving, and the teacher is learning how best to approach the students. Inquiry based learning This teaching style focuses on letting the students explore and actively participate in learning. Rather than being a dictator, the teacher is more of a guide, giving the students advice and supporting their efforts. I use this style more often, it has worked wonders. Throughout the session, you as the teacher will be able to identify students with excellent capabilities. Cooperate learning I love this and I use it more often. The idea behind this kind of teaching is community. Much of the work in the classroom is group projects, and the students are responsible for their own learning and development. The theory behind this style of teaching is that students learn best when interacting with their peers.
