TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I've written 15 books for kids and teachers, I was in the classroom until 1994, and for the past 18 years I've traveled across the country teaching teachers how to teach writing. Currently, I am teaching 7th grade ELA at a local charter school for the performing arts.

MY TEACHING STYLE

My materials are designed to create a learning explosion in your classroom through creative hands-on experiences that tap into multiple learning styles.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

EdD in Writing Curriculum and Education, MFA in Writing for Children

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

I was born in the jungles of the country of Panama. As a kid, I was a tomboy. My dad was a naturalist and taught us all about nature in the jungle. I hated school. Why? Because my teachers failed to use any creativity in their classrooms until I was in the 6th grade and met Mr. Arthur, a dynamite teacher who loved kids.
