I have been a school-based SLP since 2002 and was previously an ESL & EFL teacher in various locations and countries. I have also taught some university classes in language and communication.
I keep these concepts in mind when developing lessons and activities: differentiation, multimodality, neurodiversity, Universal Design, socioemotional growth, multiculturalism, equity, and engagement. Oh, and why make things boring when learning can be active, fun, and stimulating?!
This 'n that.... They're kind of silly to mention.
I have master's degrees in both Communication Disorders and ESL/Second Language Studies. I have bachelor's degrees in Linguistics and Japanese. I was an exchange student in Japan during high school and in Togo, West Africa during college.
I love traveling and learning about cultures and languages. I speak pretty good Japanese and French and so so Spanish. I have lived (i.e., had an address) in: Oregon, Japan, Togo, Palau, Hawaii, Texas, and China. These days I'm really into minimalism and I have always been into humanitarianism.
