I have experiences teaching at the elementary, middle school, and college level (kindergarten, 2nd-grade, 3rd-grade, 5-th grade, 6-th grade, 7th-grade, 8th-grade, and Teacher Education lecturer). I have also spent many years as a Literacy Support/ Reading Specialist for K-5 students, as well as teaching ESOL/ESL to grades K-8. I was also a Literacy Coach for 4 years and helped elementary teachers incorporate balanced literacy in their classrooms.
I love engaging my students in literature discussions. I have observed so many students learn from classroom discourse and interaction with both fiction and non-fiction texts, as well as each other. I am purposeful and deliberate when it comes to teaching my students how to read, comprehend texts, learn new vocabulary, and engage in writing activities.
