17 Years Public School Math Teacher, 1 Year Adjunct Professor, 5 Years Tutoring, and 10 years teaching as a Dad at home. I have additional teaching experience as a conversational English teacher in Japan (2 years), as well as trip leader with experience in outdoor education. In addition to my teaching, I have served as an academic coach and master teacher that worked to help other math teachers further develop their practice.
I subscribe to the “productive struggle” camp. The materials I develop, and the teaching I practice aims to meet students where they are, provide multiple pathways for student engagement, and promote the development of problem-solving abilities. While accuracy and precision in mathematics is absolutely important and something I love, I want to emphasize problem solving above answer getting. I strive to help students develop the skills they need to develop independence and grit.
