7th Grade Math Teacher, Substitute Teacher
I guess I could call myself a pragmatist, because I love it when students learn by doing.I consider myself a hands-on type of person. I like working with my hands. I like to get involved in different things in life, especially coaching. I like to teach children how-to do certain types of sports, be it basketball to bowling. I feel that the student has a better understanding of how-to do something than just telling them how to do it. When I was teacher aiding, I was fortune enough to be allowed to conduct three games that made the students think and then come up with an answer. The funny thing about the games is that the students wanted more. They seemed to enjoy thinking and interacting with each other. I think that is what a lot of teachers should do in their classrooms, if nothing else, but get the students involved in their course work.
