This is my tenth year teaching. I taught 5th grade science/nonfiction literacy for 6 years before becoming an Instructional Coach, grades 3-5.I teach at a great school along with many amazing teachers! While my background and previous work has been in special education, and I loved teaching 5th grade for several years, I have a new found love for this position.

I was a bit lost as a teenager entering college. One thing was for sure, I loved school and I loved taking classes that interested me. I started going to school for nutrition and quickly learned that it was not for me. At 19, I began working as a Direct Support Professional for children with disabilities and I changed my major to Psychology at the University of Maine. I directed my learning towards behavioral psychology to become more familiar with the human brain. After graduating in 2008 with my Bachelor's in Psychology, I took on a second job of working as an Ed. Tech. in a local school. Working 60 hours with children was great, but I missed going to school. I decided to enter the graduate program at University of Southern Maine. Crazy me decided to buy a house, get a puppy, and get married while working full time and student teaching on the side. After 2 hectic years, I earned my Master's Degree in Education with dual certification in Special Education, as well, as General Education, grades K-8, in the state of Maine. After 7 years of working with a young man that I had come to love and adore, I gave up my job as a Direct Support Professional to pursue my dream as a teacher in the Public School System. I am now in my tenth year of teaching and still loving every moment.
I have lived in Maine my entire life and cannot imagine living anywhere else. I live with my wonderful husband, our two daughters, and our silly dog and cat. I love children and animals. In fact, if I hadn't gone to school to be a teacher, I would have gone to school to be a veterinarian. I also love spending time at the lake, traveling, cooking, reading, and being outdoors (only when it's warm out, though!)
