TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have been teaching for 5 years in the public school system in Texas. I am currently teaching K-6th Grade General Music and Choir, and have previously taught 6th-12th Grade Choir and Musical Theatre.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I love incorporating meaningful learning experiences into my classroom with the aim of allowing students to experience the joys music can bring. I'm no stranger to the fact that not every student loves the music the way I do; however if I can cultivate in them a respect for the arts and what goes on behind the scenes to prepare for performances, then I have done my job! Introducing students to various types of music, music theory concepts, and applying the use of music to express their emotions and cultures is one thing I absolutely love to do. In my classroom, you would find a Kodaly Centered approach with several Orff elements as well. I primarily use folk songs as the center of my teaching, utilizing supplemental material of instrumentation, studies of genres, composers, and multicultural music.
