I am in my 19th year teaching...and I still love it!!! I teach Geometry and Earth-Space Science at Huron High School in Huron, South Dakota. We are a 1:1 iPad school. I also teach Biology and Physical Science within the DIAL Virtual High School. I am instructional coach at my high school and do contracted consulting work for my state's Department of Education.
As a teacher, I act as a demonstrator, facilitator, and delegator. I model skills and processes and then act as a coach in helping students develop and apply these skills to solve problems. I design activities which involve active learning and student collaboration. I like to give my students a choice in designing and implementing their own learning strategies and projects.
