TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have 27 years of teaching experience in a small town, rural school district. I have taught freshmen, sophomores, juniors, honors freshmen, honors sophomores and honors juniors.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I try very hard to incorporate both left-brain and right-brain focused assignments. It is critical to me that my students know how to apply what they have learned. I'm a bit more formal with my honors sophomores and honors juniors in the type of assignments I offer, but discussion is key to all of my classes. I love laughter in the classroom and want my students to view me as a lifelong learner, not someone with all of the answers.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

Two-time presenter at NCTE conferences (Denver and New York City) Presenter at OCTELA Spring Conference, Columbus, Ohio Presenter at county-wide technology conference Nominee for the Golden Apple Award (school district's Teacher of the Year award)

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

B.S. in English Education from The Ohio State University Masters in the Art of Teaching from Marygrove College

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

I also write for the Ohio Education Association's blog, Voices of Change, about issues that affect public education.
