I have been a Speech Language Pathologist for ten years. I currently work full time at an elementary school (ages 2-12, 80% on free and reduced lunch, a high population of ESOL students and a also have a Montessori program for students 3-12) and part time at a private clinic (ages 2-18). I worked at a residential school in Massachusetts which gave me a depth of knowledge on working with students with social-emotional and behavior difficulties. I have worked with students with a range of speech and language needs. Currently, my areas of interest are augmentative communication (Speak for Yourself and Eye Gaze), apraxia, fluency and language disorders.
My teaching style is following the child's leads and interests. I find that students will get the most out of an activity if they find it something that they can relate too or interesting. If a student has an interest in planets, I will adjust my activities to incorporate learning about planets while targeting their speech and language goals.
