I hold master’s degree in Teaching Arabic as a Foreign Language (TAFL) from the American University in Cairo (AUC) in Spring 2017. I also have substantial experience in teaching Arabic using recent methods and techniques. My experience in teaching includes both Modern Standard Arabic (MSA) and Egyptian Colloquial Arabic (ECA). Currently, I am an Arabic teacher at Metropolitan International School in Egypt. I teach Modern Standard Arabic to non-native speakers and heritage learners as well. In addition, I am a professional online tutor on italki, and Hands Along the Nile Development Services (HANDS). Since I graduated from the AUC, I have had the chance to teach students from different nationalities, levels, ages, ethnic groups, and cultures. This was helpful to introduce a variety of ideas, and beliefs while teaching the language. Additionally, students were able to explore the language in a meaningful context.
I believe that students should be the center of the learning process. In other words, teacher should only act as a facilitator rather than a lecturer. Therefore, I adopt teaching approaches that support the student-centered environment. One of these approaches is the flipped approach, and the other one is the Communicative Language Teaching (CLT) approach.
