TEACHING EXPERIENCE

This is my 15th year teaching English in one of the highest ranked school districts in Western New York. I have taught every grade level in my certification. Two of my favorite classes in my career would definitely be AP Language and Composition and ELA 8, but I have loved them all in truth.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I feel like we wear a lot of hats as educators. On any given day, I find that we can be called to be equal parts literary critic, stand up comic, editor, improv actor, storyteller, journalist, orator, and learner. We must juggle so much to succeed honestly, but like so many of you, I became an English teacher because I love the thrill of analysis, interpretation and discovery. My goal is to show my students just how much reading and writing extend to all other disciplines. I love helping my students to find genres that speak to them as readers and to see the impact that powerful writing can have on their lives. If I can make my class feel relevant and memorable, I know they will use the skills I teach them in all different walks of life going forward.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

I am married with three beautiful little kiddos. I love reading and am on such a memoir kick right now. I am obsessed with giving people unsolicited book recommendations whenever possible and I may throw a Netflix show in for good measure here or there. I enjoy hiking, baking, sitting still when my kids are all asleep at the end of a long day. Being an English teacher is the best! I truly believe my students keep me young, energetic...and weird!
