I have been an elementary school educator in Canada for seven years. I have also worked as a youth theatre director for the past eight years. Most recently, I have been working on an online education program called Outschool for the past three years.
My teaching style centers creativity, engagement and student voice. I love finding the intersections between arts-based endeavors and other subject areas. I believe that true learning comes in a hands-on and inquiry-based fashion, where students are given the ability to explore their own questions and curiosities.
During my theatre and english studies, I received the Trek Excellence Scholarship for Continuing Students, the W.H. MacInnes Memorial Scholarship, the Peter Loeffler Memorial Prize, and the Student Scholarship in Arts.
Since I was a young child myself, I have had a deep passion for creative writing and theatre. I have educated myself in these areas by attending various classes with experts and working professionals. I graduated from the University of British Columbia with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and Theatre Studies. I also earned a Bachelor of Elementary Education degree from the same university.
