I have been an elementary teacher for 17 years. I have taught every grade in elementary except K in that time. 3rd grade is my all time favorite grade to teach. Last June, I packed up my classroom and moved into my new position as an instructional coach for new teachers and BTSA. Miss having my own classroom, but LOVE my new job!
I believe all students can learn, no matter who they are or where they come from. Students grow when we take an interest in them and treat them with respect. When we believe in them, they learn to believe in themselves. They rise to the level of our expectations.
Yet to be added
I received a BS in Nursing from Cal State, Hayward. I worked as an oncology and hospice nurse for 12 years. Then, after testing out of the liberal studies coursework, went back to get my teaching credential at Fresno Pacific University. In August of 2015, I became an Instructional Coach supporting new teachers and BTSA Induction. I taught for many years at an inner city school in a very rough area of Fresno. I choose to stay, rather than transferring to a more affluent school, because the kids we serve need a teacher with experience, confidence, and backbone. Their parents need someone that doesn't judge them. The longer I teach, the more I have to learn. There is no final destination in education. We are "works in progress", along with our students - constantly learning, constantly growing.
