TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I love to tutor students of all ages and to write creative math activities for developing math sense! For 30 years before retirement, I managed math textbook projects (both traditional and "reform") and wrote supplemental activities for major textbook publishers.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I ask students a lot of questions to help THEM figure out what to do. I often use games that require students match numbers, models, and expressions. Matching various representations will help students develop math sense.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

While working as an editor for Prentice Hall, I received the "Way-to-Go" Award for work on development of a mathematics skills intervention kit. At Scott Foresman Publishing Company, I was part of a team that won a Technology & Learning School Software Award of Excellence.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

Master's Degree in Mathematics Education from The Ohio State University. Licensed in Ohio to teach Elementary 1-8 and Mathematics 7-12. Additional coursework on developing performance assessments.
