TEACHING EXPERIENCE

- Achievement First, Brooklyn, NY: AP Seminar and AP Research teacher for grades 11-12 - Northern Light School, Oakland, CA: Social Studies Teacher for grades 6-8 - School-to-Career Progressions, Grand Rapids, MI: Program Administrator and Social-Emotional Curriculum Developer - City High, Grand Rapids, MI: 10th Grade AP World History

MY TEACHING STYLE

As a social studies teacher for diverse classrooms, my teaching style seeks to empower students through the study of history by working to develop curriculum that allows for the greater representation of people often pushed to the margins. Without sacrificing any academic rigor or commitment to standards, I seek to teach in a way in which students can navigate bias and complexity of the historical record often not highlighted in textbooks.
