As long as I can remember I have been a creative person. Beginning early on I was always involved in arts and crafts projects at home and in school. At the age of 13 I began more formal training taking varying classes in illustration, commercial art and crafts. At the age of 16 I began on the job training in commercial art. I continued my education at California State University Long Beach receiving a Bachelors Degree in Art. After receiving my Art degree I went to work for an Advertising agency. I began as a graphic designer and worked my way up to an Art Director. After working in an advertising agency for more than 15 years I decided I wanted to do something more worthwhile. I had a teacher who really a positive role model in high school. I began volunteering in her graphic design class working with the students on projects. After volunteering for two years I decided I wanted to go back to school to get my teaching credential. After I received my , I began teaching in middle school. I have taught 6th, 7th and 8th grade Language Arts, Social Studies and Read 180. I have also taught 7th and 8th grade art. After teaching at middle school I moved on to teaching art at the high school level.I taught all levels of art including Art 1, Art 2, Art 3, Art 4, AP, Computer Graphics and Yearbook. I moved on into administration after teaching in the high school for many years. I am now principal at the middle school I began teaching at. I love my job as principal and that I am able to impact the lives of my students positively. I also have been able to bring many art projects to my school.

I went through training in Explicit Direct Instruction and I really like it. I have been using the direct instruction methods and project based learning in my classrooms. I am a fairly easy going teacher. I love my students and want them all to feel that I am interested in them. I also have a strict set of rules they must follow with a set of consequences if they misbehave. Because they are treated fairly in my room, when they get in trouble they understand that the consequences.

Chosen for Superintendent's Award during the 2009/2010 school year. Received an award for the best designed website in my district 2009/2010 school year. Chosen as Certificated Employee of the Year for Hoover Middle School 2006/2007. Received two grants to teach art afterschool through the Merced County Arts Council -Merced County Fair Logo Design 1996, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2002, 2004 -Exhibit of Graphic Design Work at Merced Arts Center -Leadership Merced Graduate -Design awards from Addy Awards. Summit Design Awards, Independent Free Papers, Northern California Golf Association, and Dynamic Graphic Design
