TEACHING EXPERIENCE

After graduating with my MAT in 1992, I finished the year at a laboratory school on the campus of East Tennessee State University where I taught 8th grade US History and 12th Government. I spent three years at Coulwood Middle School in Charlotte, NC and taught 8th grade US/NC history. I moved to Davidson International Baccalaureate Middle School in Charlotte and taught 8th grade US/NC history for five years. From there, I taught US and APUSH for a year at Hopewell High School in Charlotte. I left there to be the US History Lead Teacher for the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools for a year and a half. I decided to get back in the classroom, so I moved to teach at Virginia High School for a year and a half in Bristol, VA. From there I moved to teach 8th grade US history at Sulphur Springs Elementary School near Johnson City, TN, for four years. Finally, I have taught 8th grade US history at Ridgeview Elementary School since 2009. In addition, I teach education classes as an adjunct professor at East Tennessee State University and Northeast State Community College.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I don't really have a style. We do something different everyday in class. I assign at least one project per grading period. We have a lot of cooperative learning and review.
