I have worked in a classroom for countless years. I began working as a childcare teacher then moved on as an instructional assistant, and then a teacher. My first year teaching as an Education Specialist (Mild. Moderate) was in 2020. I began in a 6th-8th grade EL/Resource class, gaining experience with students in receiving services in the RSP model and this also included student's who were English Language Learners. I then switched to a position in an Inclusion/ RSP program and have been here ever since! I absolutely LOVE working in this school where inclusion is our priority! It makes the job tricky, but all in all, it has made me such a better educator and advocate for our students!
My model of instruction is partial pull out (small group interventions) and also push in co-teaching. When teaching my small groups we are hands on! I follow the approach to teach explicitly, consistently and use a multi-sensory approach. Any activity that involves interacting, manipulatives, games, colors, and fun, is my absolute go-to! When it comes to co-teaching, I prefer station teaching and one teach/one assist. I am working on my parallel teaching skills, but I know it doesn't work for everyone! My main goal as a teacher is to see my students grow in advocacy, I prioritize problem-solving behaviors, building their confidence, and teaching them the love of learning!
