Immersion Island

I am Jennifer de Lima, the founder of Immersion Island language immersion camps in Chapel Hill, NC. I have been teaching middle school students high-school level Spanish in Chapel Hill for 15 years. My international experience includes living and working in Mexico and Brazil and travel to other parts of Latin America and Europe.

I am firm believer that we must live the language to learn it. The immersion experience is optimal. In the classroom, activities must be fun, engaging and meaningful. If I make it fun and engaging the students will want to continue to learn Spanish!! If not, my opportunity is lost!! I use a lot of variety and always keep the affective filter low so that students want to use what they know!! We sing, dance and laugh a lot in our language learning!!
