I combine my experience in the classroom as a middle school ELAR teacher who taught both reading and writing with my experience in professional industries as a technical writer and proofreader to generate interesting, engaging, downloadable, print-ready material. While the quirky, animated, and sometimes snarky middle school mind can be wildly untamed, it also generates unlimited, refreshing chances to engage students through curiosity and help them master skills.
I create purposeful instructional material, primarily for the middle-school age group, that engages students and saves teachers hours of precious time. Educators deserve reliable, high-content, focused material that includes terminology, definitions, examples, differentiated practice activities, and answer keys that produce formative and summative grades. Students should enjoy eagerly participating, creating, and forming connections as they learn, apply, and master skills. My goal is to provide teachers with interactive, print-ready materials that offer focused student growth as well as opportunities to lead into a variety of additional lessons and discussions.

B.A. in English and Journalism, Graduated Magna Cum Laude Certified Texas Teacher — ELAR 7–12, ESL Supplement, Special Education EC–12
Working in the classroom as a secondary English teacher opened my eyes to the evolving world of educational standards, curriculums, lesson plans, and materials. Couple that with my professional technical writing and administrative experience, and I found myself falling in love with creating engaging classroom materials primarily focused on English/Language Arts. As a classroom teacher, I spent countless evenings and weekends preparing materials that would help my students master skills as well as peak their curiosity and interest. Teachers deserve current, relatable, high-content, rigorous material that is all too often not provided by their district. I founded Here to Slay ELA to help fulfill teachers’ needs for reliable resources that save precious time, introduce and reinforce skills, encourage student ownership, and produce grades. It is an honor to be a part of classrooms around the world!
