TEACHING EXPERIENCE

In addition to being a curriculum writer at the district level for the largest district in my state, I've taught Grades 9-12 High School English and Literature and Composition at the University Level. I've taught in California, South Carolina, and Hawaii in charter, private, and public settings, so I'm familiar with how standards intermingle. I have extensive AP training and am qualified in 3 AP Courses including certification to establish and teach the AP Capstone Certificate Program in its entirety. My students routinely pass their exams above state and national levels. Furthermore, I've taught sheltered and inclusion courses for special education students, courses for those who speak languages in addition to English (ESOL, ELL, and MLL), remediation, summer school, and middle school, so I have a breadth of experience with the many levels at which students enter the classroom.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I'm a teacher who practices high standards partnered with high scaffolding. I believe in teaching in an accessible way that resources the struggling while challenging the high achievers. My instruction is highly differentiated. I'm always pushing for that "DOK4 moment" but you'll notice most of my lessons include intentionally leveled approaches so every student can find a foothold.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

Magna Cum Laude 4.0 Graduate Academic GPA, Presidential Gold University Scholar, Colleague-Chosen Teaching Mentor, Colleague-Voted Professional and Continuing Education Instructor, Admin. -Selected Curriculum and Development Team Member, AP Capstone Program Launcher.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

In addition to my Master's in Education, I completed a graduate-level teaching program which included a full-year of full-time supervised classroom teaching, 2 years of degree-to-classroom training, and a bachelor's in English.
