I have been an RN for over 30 years, I received my MSN in Nursing Educaiton in 2008. I taught nursing at a local community college for 2 years and I have been teaching Allied Health, Medical Science and now Health Science Education for 14 years. I have taught CNA classes for 12 of those 14 years and I truly enjoy watching the students grow.
My teaching style changes depending on the students I am working with. I find that students learn more if information can be presented in a variety of ways. Lecture, demonstration and projects are my favorties.
I published an article in the Journal of School Nursing in February 2009 titled "Managing Type I Diabetes at School: An Integrated Review" I became a National Board Certified teacher in 2018
I often say, I went to school the hard way. I received my LPN in 1987 from Caldwell Community College and my Associates in Nursing in 1990. I completed my BSN in 2002 and my MSN in 2008. Overall, I've found a love of learning in all of my education. I say I went the hard way because I married in 1992 and had my first child in 1995 and my second in 2002. I really don't recommend this road but life gives us choices and we must do the best we can.
